Onsite Septic Systems

Today’s septic systems continue to evolve to better suit the varying ground types and geological challenges your property may present. From the most basic gravity fed system to multi stage treatment processes involving aerators, media chambers to enhance the growth of bacteria, and even UV light filters to remove unwanted bacteria, septic systems are becoming more efficient and sometimes even more compact as they treat wastewater entering the soil. The proper function of your OSS is also directly related to the health of the organisms found within the system, beginning in the septic tank itself as well as the drainfield. To maintain this little ecosystem and prolong its ability to properly treat wastewater as it enters the ground most counties require annual inspections to avoid issues that arise with a failed or compromised system. These inspections can be done by an Operations and Maintenance professional of your choosing or your county Health Department often provides training so you can inspect your own septic system if you choose to do so.
